The Environment and Agriculture Business within the Energy Business is currently seeking a Geologist . This position will be located onsite at NETL in Albany, OR .
Performing assignments of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating geological data including sedimentologic and structural elements.
Experience writing/editing technical manuscripts related to geological sciences.
Use the data collected from both surface and borehole observations to inform subsurface geological models.
Experienced in scientific problem-solving techniques, incorporating quick learning, teamwork and critical thinking
Management of large datasets, updates of knowledge on the geologic system of interest, and ability to make connections where possible between data trends and geologic observations.
examination of statistical and geological data and knowledge to inform the potential for resource extraction and associated risks in a given region
Builds relationships with internal and external clients.
Work with multidisciplinary datasets including geophysical (e.g., magnetotelluric, gravity,
resistivity) and geological (e.g., geologic cross-sections, well log lithology)
Creates and delivers oral and poster presentations of results
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
The candidate must have a BS or MS in the geosciences.
Demonstrated experience using the Subsurface Trend Analysis modeling approach developed by DOE NETL including domain postulation of regions of similar geological characteristics
The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in in conducting geologic and geospatial research
Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums or contribute to technical reports and scientific journals.
Candidates should be skilled in using geological field equipment including geological observation and documentation.
Candidate must have computational skills in ArcGIS, EarthVision, MATLAB
