Primary Function

Battelle's CBRNE Defense Business Unit located in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a scientist who possesses a strong background in biology and/or biochemistry. Battelle's CBRNE Defense Business Unit located in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a biologist who possesses a strong background in biology to include microbiology, synthetic biology, genetic engineering, and human performance modification. The successful candidate will conduct analyses or advanced technologies to support scientific and technical assessments of military ground forces research, systems, and operations for U.S. Government clients.

Major Responsibilities

Tasks will include providing all-source assessments, responding to requests for information, entering data into databases, and contributing to Government products such as briefings, assessments, and reports. The candidate must possess an active TS/SCI level U.S. Government security clearance.

This is not a laboratory position.

Position Requirements

• BS in Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry with 3-5 years of experience

• Experience with all-source intelligence analysis support to analytical production and briefings

• Ability to research and analyze scientific, medical, and patent literature

• Currently possesses a DoD TS/SCI clearance.

• Willingness to work in small groups or independently as necessary

• Demonstrated technical writing skills, shown by articles published in technical journals, reports, theses, etc.

• Other duties as assigned


• MS in Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry with 2 years of experience

• Broad Expertise to include: biotechnology, synthetic biology, computational biology, gene manipulation, and cognitive neuroscience

• Experience with modeling and forecasting future capabilities

• Familiarity with political science and economics
