Primary Function

We are currently seeking a qualified Educational Coordinator to assist in the development and creation of the New School Venture Fund grant deliverables as described below. The ultimate goal of the grant is to codify several pieces of the Metro Early College STEM high school, located in Columbus, Ohio. This work is in alignment of our team’s the goal to scale the Metro model to over 5000 students and to impact over one million students nationally in the next seven years. The team member’s role will also support Battelle’s philanthropic efforts in the Central Ohio region for the greater good of the community. This position located in Columbus, Ohio .

Major Responsibilities

The overall goal of the New Schools Venture Fund is to ensure all key elements of the Metro School Model are codified and packaged to prepare for the expansion of the school. The Educational Coordinator will describe each element in terms of what it is, how it is implemented, and how it functions within the overall context of the school. By the end of the project, the elements of the Metro Model will be packaged together and include a guide for implementation, specifically for educators new to the model. The team member will work under the guidance of Battelle Education staff and members of the Metro School team to achieve the following deliverables focused on the following elements:

  • Advisory

  • Personalization

  • Mastery

  • Design Challenges

  • Learning Centers

  • Early College

This individual will also assist the Battelle Education team in developing a common rubric in order to assess what implementation requires, what model elements gain faster adoption than others and how the model might be refined. In addition, in collaboration with the Battelle Education/Metro team, the team member will be asked to assist with the initial plan for scale that includes the following:

  • Growth projections (number of schools, number of students) for at least the next three years

  • An assessment of the potential pipeline for new sites

  • An aligned budget with detailed revenue and cost projections

  • An assessment of the model’s sustainability and, if necessary, a plan to drive increased efficiency

  • Develop a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan and targets for the team and the Metro Model (e.g., ways to improve cultural competency of the assets in the model, the representation of the team, and the training that the team receives).

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with education focus (teaching, policy or leadership)

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills equivalent to those obtained in college experience.

  • Working knowledge of education terminology, policies, procedures and practices.

  • Working knowledge of commonly used PC applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
