We are looking for a Director, Facility & Security Operations Management in Orlando, FL .
Responsible for the organization and operations of the Facilities Management function of a large scientific research and test facility, including planning, staffing, contractor and vendor management, and budget management. Responsible for the preparation and implementation of an overall facility operations strategic plan consistent with Battelle’s vision, goals, objectives, and priorities for the test facility.
This position is responsible for the organization and management of the Facilities and Support Operations departments which includes the following:
Facilities Management and Operations
Providing Input into and interfacing with Facilities Design, Engineering and Construction
Facilities Alterations, Operations, Maintenance and Repair
Space and Lease Administration
Subcontractor and Vendor Management for Facilities Services
Environment, Safety and Health
Physical Security and Emergency Management
Establishes goals and objectives to provide appropriate level of services to business units and other support groups in keeping with assessment of strategic direction, immediate and short-term needs and budget allocations. Establishes priorities based on approved plans and needs of the requesting organization.
Provides input into facilities design, engineering and construction for facilities and interfaces with design and construction team (external to Battelle). Establishes priorities for facility construction/renovation consistent with the demands of maintaining state-of-the-art facilities and meeting business requirements in a timely and effective manner.
Oversees facilities alterations, operations, buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, and utilities for facilities to ensure safe and continuous reliable operation of facilities and compliance with all regulations. Develops and implements an effective preventative maintenance program with service desk functionality for as needed and emergency maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system. Coordinates energy conservation and sustainability initiatives to reduce utility costs and carbon footprint.
Oversees the management of facilities services to include transportation, material handling, janitorial, postal, landscaping, and copier operations. Approves inventory plans and shipping and receiving practices, as well as mail delivery schedules. Provides copier services to on-site locations. Ensures all services meet or exceed defined standards of quality and performance.
Manages space administration for office, support, and laboratory space. Maintains accurate records and floor plans. Establishes and implements standards, processes, and procedures for assignment and tracking of space.
Oversees lease administration to include facility subleasing. Integrates and partners with corporate real estate, finance, risk management, and legal in lease negotiation and management.
Oversees subcontracting and vendor management for all outsourced services (e.g., landscaping, grounds maintenance, custodial, security, etc.)
Manages the environmental, safety and health programs. Directs the development and implementation of programs and systems covering environmental protection, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, emergency planning and response, chemical management, hazardous materials, and other aligned functions. Works to ensure safety and health for all occupants, staff, contractors, and visitors to facilities.
Responsible for physical security technology to include successful integration and operation of security systems: including access control, visitor management, intrusion detection, video surveillance, fire and life safety, and emergency communications. Manages uniformed security forces 24/7/365 and directs activities to achieve industry standards, project specific requirements, and regulatory compliance around a rotational assignment structure; command center, checkpoints, patrol/response, and variable posting.
Responsible for effective crisis preparation through written emergency and operational plans, systems, and operations to support organizational readiness and resilience. With support from the Battelle Emergency Operations Committee, makes decisions regarding emergency response to protect health and safety of staff and protection of property and corporate reputation. Responsible for relationship management with numerous federal, state, and local public sector entities and memorandum of agreements for response from public sector partners.
A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business with a Master of Business Administration degree are required. A minimum of 12 years’ experience in Facilities Management and Administration is required.
