JOB SUMMARY

To define requirements, analyze, design and implement computer-based informa­tion systems for re­search or Battelle busi­ness/management func­tions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. As part of the LIMS team, ensures laboratory information technology functional needs and requirements to fully integrate plant operations into sample work flows.

  2. Participates as part of a team in system design and analysis that sets and maintains the strategic direction of the laboratory information technology based on requirements.

  3. Reviews performance and technical specifications to support the laboratories functional needs and sample requirements.

  4. Designs, codes, upgrades, tests, debugs, implements and documents LIMS function and requirements.

  5. Provides expertise in the implementing and integrating of purchased software as appropriate.

  6. Implements and follows-up on assigned tasks, which may include installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of custom programming solutions to all LIMS applications.

  7. Consults with, supports and trains users on LIMS specific applications, including “on-call” support as required.

  8. Identifies, maintains and enhances opportunities to advance individual technical knowledge, contribute to team effort, and secure client confidence in system quality.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  1. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Systems or equivalent degree with computer programming emphasized. Two (2) years’ experience coding for and analyzing application systems or demonstrated ability to perform at this level, or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

  2. Skills in relational database management and support, preferably to include MS SQL and/or SQL-PL programming, required.

  3. Coding experience in C#, VS .NET programming environments, Windows 7/10 WinForms applications, and Microsoft Office applications, required.

Additional selection and retention criteria will include the ability to:

  1. Successfully pass medical screen, including the ability to wear a respirator and other PPE, lift up to 50 lbs--may involve work in close proximity of toxic chemicals.

  2. Must be a US Citizen. The applicant selected will be subject to a national agency check security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position.

  3. Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and on-call.

  4. Experience in laboratory instrumentation interfacing (Agilent MassHunter or OpenLab) is desired.

  5. Experience in DevExpress (DXv2) framework and persistent objects desired.

  6. Design experience in C# and Microsoft Office applications is desired.

BGCAPP is subject to Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety Program and AR190-59 Unescorted Access Program) which govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship. Employees must favorably complete a series of screenings to include but not limited to: a National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) security investigation, drug/alcohol testing and medical examination.

BGCAPP operates on a 24/7 schedule. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. Respiratory screening and the ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required for this position. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required.
