Primary Function

We are currently seeking a Research Scientist . This position is located in West Jefferson, OH .

Major Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes laboratory research to develop capabilities to detect, identify, and quantify chemical agents and other high hazards in air, water, on land, on personnel, equipment or facilities.

  • Responsible for leading efforts involving study design, laboratory execution, sample extraction/clean-up and analysis, interpretation of results and data reporting from protection and decontamination studies.

  • Identify new technologies and techniques to drive business in the chemical defense area

  • Work in an ISO 9001:2015 laboratory setting, to include developing project specific quality control requirements and documenting procedures.

  • Present data at client meetings and conferences

  • Train and mentor junior staff; support activities of senior staff.

  • Prepare cost and schedule estimates on proposed projects.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of theory by creatively troubleshooting and correctly interpreting results to resolve technical challenges.

  • Performs complex analysis to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of project work to meet project technical requirements and laboratory data quality objectives.

  • Ensuring compliance to in-house specifications.

  • Setting up and operating various lab instrumentation to include: pipetting devices, temperature and relative humidity monitors, air monitoring instruments, and balances.

  • Follow all safety guidelines while working around hazardous materials.

Position Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry with 1-2 years of laboratory experience

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Ability to obtain/maintain certification in Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (NACLC required)

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • Must be willing to participate in random drug screening

  • Strong writing skills Desired but not required:

  • Knowledge of US Army rules and regulations surrounding chemical surety material

  • Experience with chemical agent surety operations

  • Experience conducting RDT&E in accordance with the DoD acquisition process
